Taking the songs I love & capturing my own interpretation in a poster.

I think that many have noticed that a lot of the graphics have become far too similar and repeated. While references to older works is awesome there’s something so almost nostalgic about seeing someone’s unique interpretation of an artwork, song, story, etc. That’s my goal with these posters.

Moonlight - Baby Panna

Moonlight is an awesome fusion of jazz and rap. Bringing a slightly fuzzy trumpet and keys over a clean bass line. The soothing smooth lyrics flowing over top like moonlight on still water. For this poster I used the image originally used in the artwork but used more of the image run through a channel shift script to get some repeating parts of the image. I used warm colours to bring warmth and some light texture to try and capture the feeling of the song.

A grungy black and white poster that has the lyrics of Slowthai's Doorman on it. It includes a negative picture of Slowthai himseld and a pack of Marlboro cigarettes alternating with the text set left aligned and switching sides of the page

Doorman - Slowthai

This grungy punk rap song focuses on Slowthai’s experiences with wealth disparity and the nonchalance of the rich in the UK. The song stems from a night out where he ended up at an after party with a $4.5 million painting on the wall. I tried to emulate the grungy feel of the song through the use of the textures in the background and a black and white colour scheme to match the unapologetic nature of Slowthai’s lyrics and unique rapping style.

Danny Nedelko - IDLES.

This song is an ode to a beloved friend of the band who is also a front man of the band Heavy Lungs. Danny comes from Ukraine and immigrated to the UK. I love the energy of the song and the message that it sends as I have friends who are also immigrants. I hoped to capture the unapologetic lyrics and the grungy edge to this banging punk track.
